Introduction
Field instruction is an important part of the Jane Addams College of Social Work’s MSW program. It provides hands-on, real-world experience that prepares students for practice with at-risk individuals, groups, families and communities. JACSW maintains relationships with more than 280 agencies, hospitals, schools and other organizations throughout the Chicago metropolitan area. Today, UIC is also a “client” thanks to a $4.5 million commitment to improve resources for student mental health, which included investing in a dedicated social work trainee field unit from the JACSW. UIC Today featured the program along with Field Instruction Director Pamela Brown and JACSW student Isaias Ponpa. Read the story here.
