Abstract

Despite the widespread victimization experiences of Blacks, and young Black males in particular, few specifics are known about these experiences and resulting needs of victims; the purpose of this study is to fill that gap. There are a number of measures designed to identify victimization experiences, but there are none that focus specifically on young Black males or even other young people of color. A problem initially identified by the United States Department of Justice, our goal is to fill that gap by creating an instrument that can be used to collect descriptive information about such victims and their experiences and will assist in identifying local and national prevalence rates.
