The JACSW Training Institute for School Social Work Professionals will host “Cultivating Equitable and Culturally Responsive Practices in Schools." Dorinda Carter Andrews, Ed.D., professor and chair of the Department of Teacher Education at Michigan State University, will be the keynote speaker.

The social determinants of health play a substantial role in impacting students’ academic, physical, and mental health. Thus, cultivating equity and culturally responsive practices in schools requires intentional planning and design to support the needs of all students. Building on the 2023 JACSW Training Institute that addressed self-reflection in promoting equity and antiracist practices, the journey continues by elevating prevention and intervention strategies that foster equity building on individual, familial, and cultural strengths.
