Spring 2022 Commencement

Commencement will be held on Thursday, May 5th at 1:00 p.m. at the UIC Isadore and Sadie Dorin Forum located at 725 W. Roosevelt Road (corner of Roosevelt and Halsted). For more details, please read the FAQ below.
Please note that caps, tassels, and gowns are now available for purchase through the Josten’s website. Orders will be shipped directly to your home. The deadline to order is March 21. If you do not purchase from Josten’s, beginning April 4th, caps and gowns will be available for purchase in the UIC Bookstore. You may contact the UIC Bookstore at uicbkst@uic.edu with any questions. Graduates are encouraged to order through Josten’s. In store stock may be limited.
COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS: Currently, UIC policy no longer requires proof of vaccine, or a negative COVID-19 test. However, masks are required for all graduates and guests. Graduates may temporarily remove their masks while on stage. These policies are subject to change, and we will keep you informed of any changes.

When is Commencement for the Jane Addams College of Social Work?
Commencement will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 5, 2022. The ceremony will be held at the UIC Isadore & Sadie Dorin Forum at 725 West Roosevelt, Chicago, IL 60608. Please share this information with your guests.
Registration is required. The registration link has been sent. If you have not received it, please contact commencement@uic.edu.
How many tickets can I receive for my guests?
Each graduate will be allotted 6 tickets. Tickets must be reserved ahead of time. They can be reserved at the time of registration (see question #2). Your guests must g have their tickets for entry.
How long will the College Commencement Ceremony last?
The ceremony will last approximately 2 hours.
What color robe/cap/tassel do I purchase?
Jane Addams College of Social Work academic regalia includes the following:
- Masters: blue cap, blue gown, hood (lined with flame and indigo), tassel and hood color are Citron. Cost: $89.99.
- PhD.: red cap, red gown, gold tassel, and indigo hood lined with flame and indigo. Cost: $99.99.

Caps and gowns will be available for purchase in the UIC Bookstore beginning April 5 for those who did not purchase regalia from Josten’s.

Is seating available for differently abled and hearing-impaired students, faculty and guests?
You will need to contact Venues and Events at (312) 413-5700 to make arrangements.
What time should I arrive for the commencement?
The doors to the Isadore & Sadie Dorin Forum will open at 12:00 p.m. Students should plan to arrive at that time. Detailed instructions on what to do the day of the ceremony will be made available as we get closer to Commencement. The ceremony will begin promptly at 1:00 p.m.
Will my name be called at Commencement?
Your prerecorded name will play when you scan your Gad Pass (obtained by registering) on stage. Please go into your Marching Order account to verify that your name is exactly as you would like it recorded. To request a change, please email commencement@uic.edu.
How do I order photographs from the ceremony?
Photos of the ceremony and of individual graduates will be taken by GradImages. Mailing addresses and UIC email addresses of graduates will be submitted to GradImages prior to the ceremony. This information will be used to contact graduates regarding the process of ordering photos. If you do not want your contact information submitted to GradImages, or if you do not want your picture taken at the ceremony, please contact the JACSW Office of Academic Affairs and Student Services at jacswoss@uic.edu by Friday, April 1st.
Are there any items that my guests and I cannot bring into the ceremony?
Like, the UIC Credit Union 1 Arena, the Isadore & Sadie Dorin Forum prohibits certain items from being brought into the arena, including bags larger than 12” X 6” X 12”. Metal detectors will be in use and all bags will be searched. For a full list of prohibited items, visit the Credit Union 1 Arena’s FAQs.
When will I receive my diploma?
Diplomas will be mailed to graduates approximately one to two weeks after degree certification. Name and/or address changes must be made in writing to the Office of Records and Registration to ensure receipt of your diploma. If you have any questions regarding your diploma, please contact the Office of Records and Registration at (312) 996-4381.
