Emily Giangrande received her master’s degree from the University of Chicago, specializing in Evidence-Based Practice and Substance Abuse Treatment. She is currently a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Illinois. Her practice experience includes providing individual and group psychotherapy and case management to clients with mood and anxiety disorders, as well as severe mental illness and substance use disorders. She also has experience training and providing clinical supervision to up-and-coming social workers.
Emily’s research interests are in access to care, especially for women with substance use disorders, and the ways that telehealth and other forms of technology can help to overcome barriers to treatment. Her past research experience is primarily in health and employment interventions for people with mental illness and substance use disorders. She is active in her workplace’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives and serves as vice president of a professional women’s resource group with more than 500 members.
