About
Kelly is a second year Doctoral student who graduated in 2014 with her MSW from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Kelly currently works as a family therapist in an outpatient setting, specializing in treating eating disorders. She also runs a group for teenage girls to build self-compassion and distress tolerance skills, and every June she participates in a wilderness program that takes 30 teenagers to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area to build confidence and leadership skills.
Previously, she worked as a case manager with low income and homeless individuals in need of basic resources. Kelly is mainly interested in researching issues related to LGBT and/or gender non-conforming youth and their relationships with family members or care givers. Kelly lives in the western suburbs of Chicago and likes to travel, do anything outdoors, or spend time with her family and her dog.
