A graduate of Florida State University’s master’s of social work program, Bianca has practiced in various roles at the nexus of social work and the criminal legal system. Her decision to pursue research was inspired by early mentors and the stories she has heard while in the field. She is committed to engaging in work that elevates conversations around hope, creativity, and resistance in individuals impacted by incarceration, particularly women and girls. She is also interested in examining pretrial alternatives to incarceration, harsh sentences, and the intersection of the criminal legal system and the immigration system. When not working, Bianca likes experimenting with cooking (some of the time), watching videos about experimenting with cooking (all of the time), and finding new poets and authors to read.
