About

Liangqi (Cecilia) Shen is interested in exploring how family, school, community, and broader social dynamics influence adolescent development and in enhancing interventions. She is dedicated to studying the mental health of professionals in care-related occupations, such as social workers. Shen’s research interests center around two key areas. First, she investigates the factors contributing to internalizing and externalizing problems among children and adolescents with/without disabilities. She is particularly interested in exploring how family, school, community, and broader social dynamics influence adolescent development and in enhancing interventions for these populations. Her work includes conducting meta-analyses to evaluate the effectiveness of school-based anti-aggression interventions.

Shen is also dedicated to studying the mental health of professionals in care- related occupations. For both her bachelor’s and master’s dissertations, she utilized data from the China Social Work Longitudinal Study to examine the mental health challenges faced by social workers.

Shen received a bachelor’s degree in social work from Nankai University in 2022, and a master’s degree in  social work from Zhejiang University in 2024. She also studied as an exchange student at the University of Essex in the spring and summer term of 2022 and provided social work services to children with autism and their families in Hangzhou, China.
